The £ symbol stands for “libra”. It is a Latin term meaning scale or balance. The term pound comes from the Latin term “pondo” which means “weight”.

The pound originates as a unit for mass. It is still used in the USA for mass. For example 5lb is pronounced “5 pounds”, the lb stands for libra.

People often make fun of Black Americans and others when they say “aks” instead of “ask”.

“Aks” comes from Old English, it’s the word which “ask” came from. Languages have dialects, some dialects of English use the older “aks”.

Some symbols from a writting style known as Nsibidi from south eastern Nigeria and Cameroon (attributed to the Ekoi people). Some symbols are found on artefacts dated to the 5th century AD.

As a person who's been trying to work on businesses for years and not finding success, I'm gonna keep going.

I'm not religious but one the most interesting things I've read on this topic is titled "Invest in Many Ventures" in the book of Ecclesiastes. The 6th and final verse says:

"Sow your seed in the morning,
and at evening let your hands not be idle,
for you do not know which will succeed,
whether this or that,
or whether both will do equally well."

So if one thing doesn't work, try something else. Also be open to investing in different projects at the same time because you don't know what will succeed.

Smart work over hard work.
You could be the hardest working janitor in the city,
The worst bank accountant in the city will probably make more money.

People often ask what is the meaning of life. One of the most interesting answers I've ever heard comes from the Biblical book of Ecclesiastes

Ecclesiastes 1:2
"'Meaningless! Meaningless!'
says the Teacher.
'Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless.'"

Why does the world exist?
If you believe in the Big Bang, why was the material for the bit in existance, where did it come from?
If God exists, where did God come from?

President Trump has imposed a $100,000 fee on companies for each person they hire using the H1B visa.

The H-1B is a non-immigrant visa that allows U.S. employers to temporarily hire foreign workers in "specialty occupations". These are fields that require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific specialty, such as IT, engineering, science, medicine, finance, and education.

Trump aims to reduce the amount of non-American workers being employed by high tech companies.

Science: Life in the universe (@Science Simon) [2025-07-02 08:17:48] (ID: 87)

Is there life outside of Earth?

People often think of other planets in our solar system like
Jupiter, Mars and Neptune when trying to answer this
but that is thinking too small and close.

The sun is a star. Just like the sun, other stars have planets
around them. Our galaxy (Milky Way Galaxy) is estimated to have between 100 to
400 Billion stars.

The probability that there is a planet out there with life in the
more than 100 billion solar systems just in our galaxy is high.

All that is just in one galaxy. scientists estimate there's between
100 billion to 2 trillion other galaxies in the observable universe.

The world is not fair, that's just the way it is.
Some people are born in better situations than others,
for example some are discriminated against for their background,
some are discriminated against for other features,
some are born with genetic diseases and suffer all their life,
some kids lose both their parents as children and the world continues like nothing happened.

In tough situations sometimes you just have to accept that it is what it is and keep going.

Hard work increases the chances of success,
it doesn't guarantee it.
Often they tell us to work hard,
some have modified it to "work smart",
there is also luck involved in success.
